The 9HAT takes GWM's proven 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT) and adds a high-power P2 hybrid motor. The result is a transmission that delivers brute strength, intelligent efficiency, and uncompromising reliability – all in one package.

The 9HAT is rated for 750 N·m of torque capacity- – enough to handle the most powerful engines and the toughest off-road conditions. This is a significant step up from the 9AT's 600 N·m rating, giving vehicle manufacturers the headroom they need for high-performance hybrid applications.
P2 Hybrid Architecture – The Smart Way to Hybridise
The 9HAT uses a P2 hybrid layout. The electric motor sits between the engine and the transmission, allowing the system to drive the wheels using the engine, the motor, or both together.
A C0 clutch is added to disconnect the engine from the transmission when needed-. This means the vehicle can drive in pure electric mode with the engine off, or switch seamlessly to hybrid mode for maximum power and efficiency.
High-Power Electric Motor
The 9HAT integrates a high-voltage P2 motor module delivering up to 150 kW of power and 425 N·m of torque-. This isn‘t a token electric motor – it’s powerful enough to move the vehicle on its own, provide meaningful electric range, and deliver instant torque when you need it most.
Compact and Efficient
Despite its capabilities, the 9HAT maintains a compact axial dimension of 714.8 mm and weighs 128 kg. The design incorporates a compact and efficient clutch system and a highly integrated hydraulic control system– technologies that keep the transmission manageable without sacrificing performance.
It’s Built to Last
Service life is rated at 10 years or 300,000 km– a solid benchmark for any transmission, especially one expected to handle off-road abuse.
Proven in the Real World
The 9HAT has been battle-tested in some of the world‘s most demanding environments. In the Taklimakan Rally, vehicles equipped with the 9HAT – including the Tank 300 Hi4-T – demonstrated the transmission’s durability in extreme desert conditions-. The Tank 500 Hi4-T, powered by a 2.0T engine paired with the 9HAT, has proven itself in markets from China to Thailand.
