An electric power steering system replaces the traditional hydraulic pump, hoses, and fluid with an electric motor, a control module, and a torque sensor. When the driver turns the steering wheel, the torque sensor measures the twist on the torsion bar and sends a signal to the EPS control module. The module calculates the required assist force and commands the EPS motor to apply torque to the steering column or directly to the rack. The entire loop — from driver input to motor assist — happens in under 0.1 seconds.
Our Geely EPS steering rack is the most commonly replaced major EPS component. It integrates the rack and pinion gearset, the electric assist motor, and the torque/position sensors into a single sealed assembly.
