EG Platform – HY4G15F (1.5T Gasoline) & HY4G15H (1.5L Hybrid)
TheGWM's EG Platform is one of GWM‘s foundational engine families, encompassing both conventional turbocharged gasoline and hybrid-dedicated powertrains. With over 6 million units in cumulative sales, the 4G15 series stands as the largest-volume engine platform under a single product line-. Below we present two key variants from this proven platform.
HY4G15F – 1.5T Gasoline Engine
The HY4G15F is a 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline engine featuring port fuel injection and a longitudinal/transverse layout. It is engineered for light commercial vehicles including pickups and light trucks, delivering a balanced combination of power, durability, and cost-effectiveness-.
Key Technologies
- DOHC (Dual Overhead Camshaft) with 4 valves per cylinder
- Turbocharging with intercooling for enhanced charge density
- Intake VVT (Variable Valve Timing) for optimised volumetric efficiency across the rev range
- High-tumble intake ports for improved in-cylinder mixture formation
- 4.5bar fuel injection system for precise fuel delivery
- High-temperature resistant electronically controlled turbocharger
Market Applications
The HY4G15F is widely adopted in the commercial vehicle segment, powering models such as the Foton Ollin M Card and Foton Ollin Jieyun light trucks-. It is also paired with 7DCT and 6MT transmissions【PPT†L14】, making it a versatile choice for SUV and light truck applications【PPT†L14】.
HY4G15H – 1.5L Hybrid-Dedicated Engine
The HY4G15H is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated hybrid-dedicated engine developed specifically for GWM‘s Lemon Hybrid DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) system. It is purpose-built to maximise thermal efficiency in hybrid applications, achieving class-leading fuel economy without compromising system power output.
Key Technologies
- Atkinson Cycle – the hallmark of high-efficiency hybrid engines
- High Compression Ratio (13:1) – enabling superior thermal efficiency
- External Water-Cooled EGR – reducing pumping losses and NOx emissions
- Electronic Water Pump – on-demand coolant flow for reduced parasitic losses
- High-Tumble Intake Ports – enhancing air-fuel mixing and combustion stability
- 4.5bar Multi-Point Fuel Injection – precise fuel control across operating conditions
- High-Energy Ignition System – ensuring reliable combustion under diluted mixtures
- Intake VVT – optimised valve timing for Atkinson Cycle operation
- Close-Coupled Exhaust Manifold – faster catalyst light-off for reduced cold-start emissions
- Reduced Friction Losses – through advanced surface treatments and low-friction design
Market Applications
The HY4G15H is the core power source for GWM‘s Lemon Hybrid DHT system. When paired with the DHT100 hybrid transmission (115 kW motor, 250 N·m torque), the system delivers a combined output of 140 kW and 370 N·m system torque. This powertrain achieves fuel consumption as low as 4.6–4.7 L/100km and has been applied in models such as the Haval Chitu (Red Rabbit) HEV. The system supports both HEV and PHEV configurations, offering flexible electrification pathways for passenger vehicle applications.
